|
There is a wealth of hidden treasure scattered throughout the Sunshine Coast in the way of innovative regional food, wine and related products. Local Harvest's aim is to raise the awareness of these wonderful regional products and hopefully help to demystify the process of finding them. As a directory of the Sunshine Coast's food and wine producers it will help in sourcing the availability of some of these wonderful products and keep you intouch with what and where this season's bounty is. I would like to encourage everyone to support these local industries as there is no greater reward than eating produce that is fresh, natural and above all, locally produced! You don't need to be a connoisseur to appreciate good food and the richness of flavour each local product has to offer, nor do you need to be a chef to bring them to the table; you just need to be aware of what there is and where to find it and from there it is easy. Enjoy!

Enterprising Food: the directory of food and beverage producers in the Maroochy Hinterland was formally launched by Maroochy Mayor Joe Natoli, Councillor Greg Fahey and Peter Howard in Montville on April 30. The directory lists hundreds of products and provides a means for our local businesses to reach a wider market of consumers. These were well represented at the launch. Producers of cookies, olive oil, wine, beer, fresh vegetables and fruit were all there, alongside chefs, hoteliers, restaurateurs, wholesalers and retailers.
